I support Linfield’s reference department by performing reference service for the students at the college, guiding them to both print and electronic resources. I do this in face-to-face interaction and virtually via Meebo chat. Additional duties and projects include reviewing and evaluating the training materials for student reference workers and making recommendations for their update, as well as compiling, editing, and rebuilding an online class research page for the Mass Communications department on reading news sources for editorial bias. I collaborate with the reference librarians, the library director, and the circulation department in order to meet these goals.

I use the content management system Library ala Carte to this end, as well as PCC’s OCLC catalog interface and other Internet search tools. I employ HTML to format the guides in accordance to usability and accessibility standards.
